About 20 to 25 dogs were entered in a fun match sponsored by Racing And Coursing Enthusiasts (RACE) and Benny won Best in Show! This was the first time he had been entered in any show since being adopted from Central California SPCA, Fresno, in February.

When I adopted him, he was bald from his shoulders to his tail, severely underweight, under-socialized and reactive to other dogs, after being in the shelter for almost a month as an unclaimed stray with an unregistered microchip.

Thanks also to Brad Briscoe with San Lorenzo Dog Training Club for all his outstanding Conformation training/handling advice to get Benny ready for the ring

I think everybody should have a Dachshund in their life at one time or another. Nothing is complete until a person spends a lot of time with a member of this breed.

And, I would like to thank Olivia Hsia for her expect handling of Benny in the Best in Show class while I handled Palo, the winner of the Best Mixed Breed class.
